Spring Valley was platted in 1844 following construction of the Little Miami Railroad, and its
Main Street Historic District still reflects that 19th-century origin. Population peaked at
678 in 1960 and has settled to around 415 today — a small, stable village rather than a growing or shrinking
one.

A low-poverty, family-oriented village

More than half of Spring Valley households are married couples, and the village has historically posted a
notably low poverty rate for its size. It’s the kind of place where the demographics suggest people move in
and stay.

Housing stock

Just over 200 housing units across a footprint of roughly a quarter square mile — genuinely small-scale,
with the historic district’s 19th-century character setting the tone for the rest of the village.

Small, historic, and stable. Spring Valley is worth knowing about even though it
rarely has much on the market at once.
