Miamisburg is really two markets in one city. Old Miamisburg — the downtown and riverfront
core — is full of genuine Victorian-era architecture: Queen Anne, Italianate, and Second Empire homes, many
predating 1900. Move out toward Miami Township and the city shifts to standard late-20th-century
suburban construction, with newer luxury development added more recently on the outer edges.

What makes it distinct

The Miamisburg Mound — the largest conical burial mound in Ohio, built by the Adena
culture roughly two thousand years ago — sits within city limits and is the kind of landmark most Dayton
suburbs simply don’t have. Market Square downtown, anchored by the century-old Hamburger Wagon, gives Old
Miamisburg a genuine small-town center rather than a manufactured one.

Housing stock

Buyers drawn to pre-war character gravitate to Old Miamisburg’s Victorian stock, with the understanding
that comes with older homes — original systems, additions over the decades, and real charm to go with it.
Everything from standard 1970s–90s ranches and colonials to newer builds is available further out toward
the township.

Schools

Miamisburg City School District runs ten buildings and has held an “Excellent with
Distinction” rating from the state; Miamisburg High School earned a National Blue Ribbon in 1997.

Old Miamisburg character or newer Miami Township construction? They’re different buying
decisions — worth talking through before you start touring.
